Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Legal Nurse Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will use their nursing and medical expertise, along with a strong understanding of legal principals, to assist attorneys in preparing cases related to healthcare issues. This role involves coordinating medical-legal matters, managing medical records, and providing expert medical insights to support our legal team. This is a remote position. The compensation range for this position, depending on experience, is an annual base salary of $95,000 to $110,000 per year, plus a year-end discretionary bonus and benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze medical records to provide attorneys with a clear understanding of medical facts and issues pertinent to legal cases.
  • Become a power-user of Keller Postman’s medical review platform and participate in ongoing enhancement conversations.
  • Collaborate with third-party review teams, ensuring the accuracy and relevance of their work though quality control processes.
  • Apply skills in teaching and training to educate third-party review teams on emerging case or medical trends.
  • Educate attorneys and clients on medical matters related to the case, offering insights and clarifications as needed.
  • Assist with preparation for and support during depositions, trials, or alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes.
  • Provide expert medical opinions and insights on cases involving medical malpractice, personal injury, Tort and other healthcare-related legal matters.
  • Coordinate and manage medical-legal matters, including case evaluations, chronologies, and summaries of medical records.
  • Work with attorneys to evaluate case strengths and weaknesses, including causation and damage issues
  • Educate and train legal staff on medical terminology, procedures, and issues relevant to their cases.
  • Provide support throughout discovery, depositions, trial, and other legal proceedings.
  • Offer expert guidance on overall case health as viewed through quality of medical records retrieved and reviews worked.
  • Routinely audit work across medical records as needed depending on case assignment(s).
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with an Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Legal Nurse Consultant certification (LNCC via the AALNC preferred).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in medical and damages analyses.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • 3-5 years of recent clinical experience in a hospital setting, with ICU and ER experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Proficient in legal matters, with Tort and Personal Injury experience preferred.
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strict attention to detail.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced high-volume environment.
