Job summary

Upbound Group, Inc. is seeking a 2027 Summer Internship in Legal & Compliance in Plano, Texas. The intern will gain exposure to in-house corporate law practice within a public company, supporting risk management, governance, and strategic initiatives.

The role targets JD students in their first or second year with strong academics, research, writing, and leadership potential, and offers hands-on work in litigation support, governance, and compliance projects.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Juris Doctor (J.D.) program and having successfully completed the first or second year of law school.
• Strong academic performance, with a preferred cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
• Demonstrated interest in corporate law, compliance, litigation, employment law, consumer finance, or other relevant legal disciplines.
• Strong legal research, analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents and correspondence.
• Proven leadership potential through academic achievement, internships, campus involvement, athletics, military service, or extracurricular activities.

Practice Area Overview

The Legal Intern will gain exposure to the practice of law within a public company legal department. Working alongside experienced attorneys, the intern will support a variety of legal matters, and observe how an in-house team advises the business, manages risk, and supports company operations. The role is intended to provide hands-on experience and practical insight into the work of in-house counsel in a public company environment.

What We're Looking For

Work Location

Ability to work in our corporate headquarters in Plano, Texas throughout the entire ten-week summer intern program.

Compensation

Summer Interns at Upbound Group are paid hourly in accordance with usual payroll procedures.

$23.00 per hour
