About the Role

As a Legal Data Expert, you will contribute domain expertise in Civil Rights and Environmental Law at a cutting-edge legal tech company. You will lead attorneys to keep datasets current, contribute to public communications, stay updated on customer needs, and provide thought leadership.

Lex Machina pioneered the field of “Legal Analytics” and is the market leader for law firms and Fortune 500 companies using data to inform legal decisions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze rulings in federal district court.
• Lead a team of attorneys to maintain datasets, reviewing new litigation events.
• Collaborate with engineers and legal experts on product development.
• Become an authority on Lex Machina’s Civil Rights and Environmental Law data.
• Ensure data integrity and innovate new features.
• Expand Legal Analytics into new Civil Rights and Environmental Law areas.
• Serve as a liaison for customer success regarding data and analytics questions.
• Identify trends using Lex Machina data.
• Provide feedback for product improvements based on customer insights.
• Identify opportunities to showcase datasets through content, webinars, and blogs.
• Present at conferences and publish articles to promote Lex Machina’s analytics.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree (JD).
• Familiarity with US Civil Rights law and litigation procedures in federal courts.
• 3+ years in legal practice or legal services involving Civil Rights or Environmental Law.
• Motivated self-starter with an interest in data analysis.
• Highly organized, able to work independently.
• Tech-savvy with quick learning ability.
• Interest in writing SQL queries for data analysis.
• Excellent communication skills.
• U.S. law practice admission preferred.
• Availability for virtual meetings in late afternoon Pacific time.
• Experience with remote teams is a plus.
