Job Description:

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited school
  • Admission to State Bar in at least one State

Work Experiences:

  • At least 3-5 years of labor and employment experience with a major law firm or an in-house legal department
  • Experience with a retail company with at least $1 billion in revenue in a corporate environment preferred
  • Experience providing advice and counsel and handling litigation related to employment law, including compliance with relevant laws
  • Significant experience providing advice on labor law issues, including union avoidance and unfair labor practices
  • Ability to provide practical legal advice, balancing legal risk with business objectives
  • Prior experience evaluating and assessing risk

  • Ability to analyze complex contracts and propose solutions

Responsibilities:

  • Advise HR and business clients on labor, employment, and benefits compliance
  • Partner with HR on company policies affecting relationships
  • Develop partnerships with management and external vendors
  • Represent company on enterprise-level issues
  • Manage legal staff and outside counsel
  • Assist with budgeting and process improvements
  • Ensure understanding of company policies and safety rules

Physical Requirements & Attendance:

  • Acceptable hearing and vision levels to perform duties
  • Adherence to work hours and policies
