Reporting to the Legal Director, you will join the Legal team in the Sydney office as a Legal Counsel for a 10-month contract maternity coverage to provide high-quality legal advice and services concerning the company’s legal rights, obligations, risks, and privileges.

Responsibilities may include the following, and other duties may be assigned:
  1. Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts with customers, healthcare professionals, suppliers, and third-party intermediaries.
  2. Provide legal advice on claims, disputes, litigation, privacy, regulatory, and competition law issues in ANZ.
  3. Review promotional materials for compliance with advertising laws, regulations, and internal guidelines.
  4. Provide updates, presentations, metrics, or reports to leadership teams.
  5. Stay current on legislative issues, statutes, decisions, and ordinances relevant to the role.
  6. Participate in creating and maintaining the Legal Team's internal and business-facing Knowledge Management system.
  7. Engage in Legal Operations activities, including training, internal marketing, and events.
  8. Improve team processes, systems, or products to enhance performance.
  9. Ensure compliance with ethical and corporate obligations, including external regulations and internal policies.
  10. Assist the EurAsia Legal Team with projects and initiatives as needed.
  11. Work independently to solve moderately complex problems.
  12. Interact respectfully and effectively with all company levels.
  13. Manage large projects, collaborating with stakeholders to achieve results.
  14. Communicate effectively with senior internal and external clients and vendors, being mindful of intercultural issues.
  15. Promote ethical behavior and mitigate risks.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
  • Australian or New Zealand Law degree, admitted to any Australian State roll, eligible for a practicing certificate.
  • At least 5+ years PQE experience.
  • Experience in an in-house legal team within the pharmaceutical or medical device industries is preferred.
  • Ability to work across geographic and functional boundaries.
  • Strong work ethic and business partnering skills.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
  • Flexible, multi-tasker, solution-focused.
  • Enthusiastic, team-oriented, positive, adaptable, innovative.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
