Job description

The Legal Content Manager is responsible for ensuring that the legal information in ILAO’s content management system is accurate and current. They coordinate a team of Legal Content Volunteers (LCVs) and subject matter experts to maintain the quality and usability of legal information for lower-income communities in Illinois. The role involves staying informed on legal trends affecting these communities and developing innovative ways to increase access to justice through technology.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Content Production & Publishing (50%)
  2. Monitor legal changes and ensure content is up-to-date.
  3. Meet milestones for new product development.
  4. Incorporate external resources into ILAO’s offerings.
  5. Innovate in packaging and delivering legal information.
  6. Support legal aid and pro bono attorneys with tools and resources.
  7. Create diverse content types including infographics and videos.
  8. Serve on the Illinois Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission’s Forms Subcommittees.
  1. Supervise Content Reviewers (25%)
  2. Manage the Legal Content Volunteer (LCV) Program.
  3. Coordinate review events and establish program metrics.
  4. Support and recognize LCVs.
  5. Assist with legal subject matter expertise as needed.
  6. Build professional relationships within the legal community.
  1. Content Evaluation & Feedback (15%)
  2. Analyze and share data on content quality and usage.
  3. Maintain quality standards and improve processes.
  4. Collaborate on user feedback collection and response.
  1. Other Activities (10%)
  2. Participate in meetings, organizational activities, and fundraising efforts.
Education/Experience
  • J.D. and Illinois bar admission required.
  • Minimum two years of legal experience.
  • Experience simplifying complex legal concepts.
  • Strong communication skills and detail-oriented writing/editing experience.
  • Volunteer recruitment and management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Connections within the Illinois legal aid community.
  • Experience in criminal law, immigration, education, employment, or public benefits.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, web content management, and collaboration tools.
