Job summary

St. Vincent Catholic Charities seeks a legal support assistant to aid two immigration attorneys in providing representation for vulnerable communities, with a focus on asylum and SIV cases.

You will conduct legal and country conditions research, organize documents, meet clients, schedule appointments and calendars, coordinate interpreters, and draft affidavits and immigration forms while maintaining digital files and contributing to monthly and quarterly reports.

Qualifications

  • Education: B.A. or B.S. preferred.
  • Experience: Law office or paralegal preferred; exposure to US asylum law; multicultural team experience.
  • Licenses and training: MI operator license; strong written and oral communication; second language preferred (Urdu, Dari, Pashto).

Qualifications

  • Required Licenses, Certifications, and Training: MI operator license; computer skills; excellent written and oral communications skills; second language (Urdu, Dari, Pashto) preferred

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Physical requirements include frequent use of hands for handling objects, tools, or controls; talking, bending, squatting, twisting, climbing, kneeling, reaching, and occasionally lifting or carrying up to 30 pounds
  • Vision requirements include close‑up work, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus
  • The work environment may involve varying degrees of physical discomfort and occasional loud noise
