Job summary

Buchalter LLP seeks a Research Analyst in the Research & Information Services Department to perform in-depth reference and research across law and business practice areas. The role supports business development and requires proactive, analytical, service-oriented candidates who deliver accurate, actionable intelligence under tight deadlines.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and/or a J.D., 3+ years of law firm experience, and expertise with major

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and/or J.D. from an accredited institution preferred.
• Minimum of 3+ years of law firm experience.
• Strong skills conducting complex research and understanding of research strategies and legal concepts.
• Experience using Lexis, Westlaw and other major research databases.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level, in-depth research and analysis in legal, business, and other subjects using appropriate electronic resources.
• Complete reference and research requests quickly, accurately and thoroughly.
• Analyze, evaluate, and synthesize complex information to deliver actionable intelligence for legal strategy and business planning.
• Set up alerts across platforms to meet information needs of attorneys and clients.
• Evaluate research resources for scope, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness; bill time spent on research.
• Coordinate training sessions for attorneys and paralegals on research databases.
