Job summary

Styles Law, a Washington-based firm, seeks an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys through all stages of litigation from case assessment to trial preparation. The role demands superb organization, strong written and verbal communication, and a thorough understanding of litigation procedures.

You will manage case files, assist with discovery, draft pleadings and subpoenas, handle trial preparation and coordination, and maintain client communication while meeting strict deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Paralegal certification or associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in litigation.
  • Proficiency in Westlaw and LexisNexis.
  • Excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal court rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Case Management: Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, discovery materials, and trial exhibits.
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal and factual research to support case strategy.
  • Drafting and Document Preparation: Prepare pleadings, subpoenas, motions, affidavits, and correspondence.
  • Discovery: Manage discovery including drafting requests/responses and organizing productions.
  • Trial Preparation: Assist with trial logistics, exhibits, and witness files; attend trials as needed.
  • Client Communication: Serve as point of contact for clients; communicate case progress.
  • Calendaring and Deadlines: Manage court deadlines and attorney schedules.
  • Court Filings: File documents electronically and physically with courts.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting attorneys throughout the litigation process, from initial case assessment to trial preparation. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of litigation procedures.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Case Management: Organize and maintain case files, including pleadings, correspondence, discovery materials, and trial exhibits.

  • Legal Research: Conduct legal and factual research to assist attorneys in case strategy and preparation.

  • Drafting and Document Preparation: Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, subpoenas, motions, affidavits, and correspondence.

  • Discovery: Assist in the management of discovery, including drafting requests and responses, organizing document productions, and reviewing evidence.

  • Trial Preparation: Assist with trial logistics, prepare exhibits and witness files, and organize trial notebooks. Attend trials as needed to provide on-site support.

  • Client Communication: Serve as a point of contact for clients, ensuring they are informed about case progress and responding to inquiries promptly.

  • Calendaring and Deadlines: Manage court and filing deadlines, attorney schedules, and appointments.

  • Court Filings: File documents electronically and physically with courts, ensuring compliance with local rules and procedures.


Qualifications:


  • Education: Paralegal certification or an associate degree in paralegal studies is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in litigation preferred

  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).

    • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systems.

    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Knowledge of local, state, and federal court rules and procedures.
