Salary Range

$45,503.00 - $54,309.00 annually.

Class Definition

A Legal Assistant I performs legal research of limited complexity and prepares legal documents. This role involves no supervisory duties, works under moderate supervision, and is performed in an office environment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Associate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: One year of legal research or paralegal work.

OR

  • Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of legal procedures and terminology.
  • Ability to conduct legal research and draft legal documents.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to operate West Law and related systems.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
Background Check

Final candidates must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting.

Probation Period

Mandatory six-month to one-year probation for new hires and current employees.

Additional Requirements
  • Education from an accredited institution; US education must be evaluated for equivalency if obtained abroad.
  • Qualified candidates are considered for vacancies for at least six months.
  • Selection is based on training and experience evaluation.
  • Applicants must provide complete, accurate information.
  • Final consideration requires authorization for criminal conviction checks.
  • Position requires completing a Financial Disclosure within 30 days of hire.
