Job summary

Trustmark Bank seeks a paralegal to assist the Legal Department with a variety of legal matters related to banking. The role involves document preparation, production, and routine communications with attorneys, judges, and other professionals.

Responsibilities include analyzing legal questions, supporting attorneys, handling phone and email routing, and performing additional duties as assigned. Strong written and oral communication is essential, with basic banking law knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in general studies or equivalent.
• High school diploma or GED with 2 years’ work experience in legal or related fields.
• Basic understanding of internal banking procedures, etc.
• Basic understanding of banking law, estate and guardianship matters, real estate law, trust law, corporate governance and bankruptcy law.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Intermediate level experience using Microsoft Word, Adobe and Excel.
• Ability to work with attorneys, judges, and other professionals in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
• Experience using a multi-line phone system.

Responsibilities

• Ability to analyze legal questions/issues from both internal and external sources with the assistance of attorneys within the department and formulate proper responses.
• Work closely and assist attorneys in all legal matters within the department.
• Assist with phones when necessary, directing incoming issues (via phone and email) to Attorneys within the legal department.
• Associates are expected to perform all additional duties as assigned.
