Job Overview

Lawyers for Justice is expanding its Washington practice and seeks a highly qualified Legal Assistant.

The position is part of the firm’s expansion into Washington with active cases throughout the state. The legal assistant will join a talented team of Seattle-based professionals and the broader Lawyers for Justice team in California and across the U.S.

Main Responsibilities
  • Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Draft legal documents and file motions and pleadings in accordance with judicial procedures.
  • Interview clients and witnesses and prepare summaries of their statements.
  • Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, including evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, and other items.
  • Input and update all legal deadlines, court dates, depositions, hearings, and client meetings into the firm’s calendaring system.
  • Calculate and double-check accurate deadlines based on relevant rules and statutes.
  • Manage conflicts and scheduling adjustments as needed.
  • Develop and maintain records on cases.
  • Organize, enter, and cross‑reference documents in a computerized database.
  • Assist attorneys with organizing and carrying out special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
