Summary
The Legal Administrative Assistant (LAA) will perform a variety of secretarial duties for assigned attorneys in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role requires maintaining positive contact with clients, attorneys, and staff while ensuring confidentiality of client matters. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Advanced MS Office, iManage, Adobe PDF, ChromeRiver, and other firm software.
- Prepare legal documents from written and oral drafts, including shell pleadings and discovery.
- Create drafts and standard correspondence to courts, clerks, and opposing counsel.
- Edit, format, and proofread documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with attention to detail.
- Understand the e-filing process and local court rules across multiple jurisdictions.
- Create and manage electronic case files for efficient access by attorneys.
- Coordinate preparation of binders for depositions, hearings, and trials.
- Establish and maintain attorney calendars and case deadline reminders.
- Schedule meetings and travel itineraries based on attorney availability.
- Process bills, review billing sheets, and edit bills as necessary.
- Handle new business requests, including opening new matters and preparing conflict submissions.
- Manage workflow of assigned tasks, prioritizing to meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with administrative support staff to complete tasks efficiently.
- Handle filing for Federal, State, Appeals, and E-Filings.
- Assist with trial preparation, including creating trial and exhibit binders.
- Ensure timely submission of calendar deadline items to the docketing clerk.
- Process expense reports and enter partner billable time.
- Provide reception relief and assist with overflow typing, filing, and photocopying as needed.
- Receive clients and visitors while maintaining confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required
- Proven ability to proofread and edit legal correspondence for accuracy.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures is preferred.

WASHINGTON, D.C. APPLICANT SALARY RANGE: $100,000-$120,000. Salary will be commensurate with experience in this role.
