Dinsmore is seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant at our Louisville, KY location who will support multiple attorneys in the area of Business Restructuring.

This position will include traditional legal administrative assistant responsibilities including preparation of detailed agreements, electronic filings, client management, billing, time entry, formatting, proofreading and editing of documents, travel arrangements, and other legal assistant functions. We seek candidates that are self-directed, high energy, and have advanced computer skills. Experience with Bond deals, large transactions, and preparation of closings documents/packages a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Docket hearings, depositions, conferences, and court deadlines
  • Open new cases (running conflicts, new client-matter intake forms and/or opening or closing files)
  • Submit attorney expenses, updating client-matter lists
  • Maintain positive contact & communications with clients, attorneys, and staff in dynamic large law firm environment
  • Provide typical administrative support functions including knowledge of specialized terminology relevant to the practice area
  • Prepare and process documents including electronic filings
  • Maintain schedules and calendars for multiple attorneys and tracking of critical dates
  • Open new matters including conflict checks
  • Entry of data and maintenance with client systems
  • Follow up on return of filings
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, affidavits, etc.
  • Maintain accurate and current information in case management system/iManage
  • Meet client deadlines and adapt to industry changes
  • Prepare and format memoranda, correspondence, and various other legal documents
  • Ensure timely delivery of outgoing mail, messenger deliveries, overnight deliveries, etc.
  • Ensure timely, courteous, and thorough responses to a heavy volume of email correspondence
  • Meet weekly time entry deadlines
  • Proofread the legal documents as required
  • Provide support to attorneys in a high volume, time sensitive atmosphere
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed

Requirements

  • 5+ years of legal administrative assistant experience
  • Solid understanding of the legal process surrounding bankruptcy law preferred
  • Experience in bankruptcy court filings (multi-state jurisdictions)
  • Experience in litigation court filings in state, federal and appellate courts (multi-state jurisdictions)
  • Excellent computer/technical skills and effective communication skills
  • Ability to type 65 wpm
  • Possess excellent writing, grammar, proofreading skills, and meticulous attention to detail
  • Proven success as a positive team player as well as an independent worker
  • Ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Highly motivated professional who is enthusiastic about learning the Business Restructuring practice group
  • Concrete understanding of Partner level communication styles, expectations, turnaround demands and sense of urgency
  • Learns quickly, aptitude for detail oriented projects, and eager to grow with this practice group
