Overview

The Artificial Intelligence Interdisciplinary Institute at Maryland (AIM) is a collaborative hub for AI research, education, and community engagement. AIM partners with faculty across twelve colleges to develop interdisciplinary AI curricula, degree programs, and experiential learning opportunities focused on responsible AI technology.

Positions

Ten lecturer positions are available at all academic levels. Candidates may apply for one of two tracks: 1) Standard Lecturer – primary focus on teaching AI courses; 2) Lecturer and External Partnerships – teaching combined with building and maintaining external relationships with community organizations, companies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and general education courses in artificial intelligence, including "big questions", capstone, and AI clinic courses.
  • Develop and design curriculum and learning materials; advise students and contribute to interdisciplinary AI education.
  • For the Lecturer and External Partnerships track: recruit and collaborate with external partners; implement community‑engaged learning projects.
Qualifications
  • M A or M S (or equivalent) in a related field, completed at the time of appointment.
  • Strong interest in course development, teaching, student advising, and undergraduate community‑building programming.
  • Experience or demonstrated desire to teach across multiple disciplines and foster interdisciplinary learning.

Salary and Benefits

12 month regular salary range: $85,500 – $177,968. 9 month regular salary range: $64,125 – $133,476. Regular faculty benefits are available upon appointment.
