Lecturer

Health Information Management Systems - School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences

The Lecturer will be an instructor in the Health Information Management Systems division within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

This position works remotely. The work assignments will be based on the teaching needs of the Division, including appropriate online courses. The primary responsibility is the preparation and instruction of 3 credits of HIMS 5551: Healthcare Reimbursement for Practitioners AU24 Second Session to 100% online students in the Medical Coding and Healthcare Data Analytics for Practice Certificate program.

The work assignments will be based on the curriculum of the certificate program and the teaching needs of the Division.

Performance Objectives

  • Update the course syllabus and calendar;
  • Order textbooks (if applicable);
  • Post reading materials;
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, including recording and posting to the CarmenCanvas course site;
  • Respond to accommodation requests from students (e.g., extended exam time);
  • Update assignments in consultation with full-time faculty;
  • Deliver, grade, and update assignments;
  • Grade assignments and respond to students promptly, following rubrics and response expectations outlined in the syllabus;
  • Post grades to Buckeyelink at semester end;
  • Report concerns about student performance to full-time faculty immediately for appropriate referral;
  • Meet regularly with the division director or designee to communicate and improve the course;
  • Respond promptly to division director requests;
  • Attend faculty meetings and retreats as schedule permits;
  • Prepare materials for annual review, including resume or CV and SEIs;
  • Conduct online sessions with students via CarmenZoom if needed.
