Job Summary

The College of Engineering solicits applications for a staff Lecturer position beginning in Fall 2026 at Purdue University in Indianapolis, a comprehensive urban campus with transformative growth for the state's land-grant university. The position will be split between the EPICS Program ( https://engineering.purdue.edu/EPICS ) and the Women in Engineering (WiE) Program ( https://engineering.purdue.edu/WiE ). Although teaching responsibilities are expected to primarily be within the EPICS program, it may be possible to be assigned to courses within the Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program ( https://engineering.purdue.edu/VIP ) or other courses within the College of Engineering .

For WiE, this position will be responsible for program development, management and administration of all aspects of current student retention programs in Indianapolis resulting in high-quality, positive experiences for participants. This includes the following:

    • Direct day-to-day operations of WiE in Indianapolis including hiring, training, orientation, and evaluation of graduate and undergraduate student staff and volunteers.
    • Plan and schedule appropriate programs for current students based on needs.
    • Assess programs for continuous improvement.
    • Represent Purdue WiE as needed in departmental, college-wide, and university-wide contexts.

The position is a non-faculty rank, staff teaching position, with continuing appointment.

Education

Applicants must have a B.S. and M.S. in Engineering, Computer Science or related field. Ph.D. preferred.

Experience

Applicants should have both experience developing and managing retention programs and, in the practice, or teaching of design, engineering, computing or technology. Experience mentoring project-based courses, especially those which satisfy capstone requirements, is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered. Applicants must have the ability to take the initiative to solve problems, assume responsibility, and establish and maintain quality standards. In addition, applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills, the ability to work with people of various backgrounds, good time management and organizational skills, the ability to learn and adapt to changing learning environments, and the ability to work with students, undergraduate and graduate, and faculty in WiE program development and management, liaison to community and other groups across campus, and through the teaching and mentorship students' teams through their design projects.
