Part-Time Lecturer Pool Position
POSITION AVAILABLE

: One or more temporary, part-timelecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered forappointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026,and/or Spring Semester 2027.

THE DEPARTMENT

: The Department of Statistics and DataScience offers undergraduate degrees in Statistics and DataScience, two post-baccalaureate certificates (in applied ormathematical statistics), and master’s degree in Statistics. TheStatistics MS degree offers five concentrations (Actuarial,Applied, Biostatistics, Data Science, and Mathematical Statistics).The Department also teaches basic statistics courses for many majorprograms throughout the University. The concentrations in the MSStatistics program allow students to customize their programspecific to their career and academic goals. Programs include mixof theory and applications and the department uses various softwarefor instructions such as (but not limited to) R, Python, SAS.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION

: Part-time positions teachingundergraduate statistics courses including general introductorystatistics along with those oriented toward various disciplines inbusiness, natural and social sciences, humanities, and engineering.Please note that teaching assignments at California StateUniversity, East Bay may include courses at the Hayward campus,Concord Center, and/or online. The policy and expectation of theCalifornia State University is that all faculty members willperform all of their duties within the state of California.

RANK AND SALARY

: Lecturer. Salary is dependent uponeducational preparation and experience. Position appointment issubject to budgetary authorization.

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic YearClassification is available based on the following ranges:

  • Lecturer AY (Range 2) - $5,507 - $6,677
  • Lecturer AY (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224
  • Lecturer AY (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523
  • Lecturer AY (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum ofthe appropriate range, commensurate with education andexperience.

DATE OF APPOINTMENT

: Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026;Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027.

QUALIFICATIONS

: Minimum requirement of M.S. in Statisticsor Biostatistics (Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics preferred)or M.S. degree in a related field of application with teachingexperience.
