Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Nursing for the 2026/2027 academic year. The role involves teaching nursing theory and coordinating clinical experiences, with an emphasis on hands-on learning and equity-minded teaching in a Catholic university setting.

The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty to ensure robust clinical experiences, maintain current curricula, and support students toward NCLEX success.

Job Description

TheDepartment of Nursing invites applications for a full-time lecturerin Nursing with a start date in the 2026/2027 academic year. Theteaching load for this position is 12/9 credits per academic year. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the facultymembers teaching the lecture sections of nursing theory courses andthe clinical coordinator to ensure a consistent, robust clinicalexperience for all students in the course.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Duties include three days of clinical instruction in the complex, acute/chronic care, and/or simulation lab setting in MAand/or RI and two days on campus.
• Clinical instruction in the complex, and/or acute/chronic caresetting during the fall semester and if qualified may includematernal health, L & D during the spring semester.
• She/he is responsible for assuring regulatory compliance withaccreditation, state, and Federal guidelines.
• Working collaboratively with full-time faculty and responsiblefor the assessment, planning, implementation, grading, andevaluation of students and their performance in the clinicalarea.
• Maintain established curricula that appropriately reflectcurrent knowledge in the discipline, including the impact ofcultural diversity issues on course content and instructionalpractices.
• Follow the curriculum aimed at assisting students pass theNCLEX licensing exam. Occasional travel between clinical placementsites and campus classes may be needed.
• Build and maintain between local facilities and communityprograms regarding public health, geriatric, acute, chronic, andvulnerable populations.
• Supervise and evaluate students in didactic and clinicalsettings.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• NUR 150-fundamentals of Nursing course every other fallsemester with advising responsibilities.
• Other duties include department committee participation, andmonthly department and university meetings.

LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT

• Unencumbered RN license in Rhode Island and Massachusetts
• NRP certification if teaching labor and delivery
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification

Requirements

Required

• MS in Nursing required.
• We seek a colleague who is committed to excellence inundergraduate teaching with a focus on hands-on learning. SalveRegina University has state-of-the-art Nursing simulationlaboratory.
• Minimum of two years' full-time employment in nursing or itsequivalent within the past five years, and evidence of clinicalcompetence in area of didactic and clinical instruction. NRPcertification required if teaching in the specialty of labor anddelivery.
• Qualified applicants must be able to perform the essentialfunctions of a nurse on a clinical unit of this position with orwithout reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Immunizations required by clinical institutions

Preferred

• A Ph.D. or other terminal degree and teaching experience arepreferred but not mandatory.
• Teaching and experience with student evaluationresponsibilities with multi-cultural either classroom or clinicalsetting.
• Simulation experience a plus.
