Job summary

UNT Dallas seeks a Lecturer in Information Technology with a Cybersecurity specialization to teach four courses per semester and contribute to program development and assessment. Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in Cybersecurity, IT, and CS.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using technology in teaching and delivering in multiple modalities (hybrid, online, face-to-face).
  • Evidence of significant academic research and/or applied Cybersecurity experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach four courses per semester and engage in program/course development, assessment and committee leadership.
  • Serve as inaugural cybersecurity instructor at UNT Dallas, teaching a full range of undergraduate Cybersecurity and IT courses (e.g., Foundations of Cybersecurity, Network Administration, Cloud Security, Computer Forensics, Networks, Programming).

Department Summary

The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) College of Business and Technology invites applications for the Lecturer of Information Technology (Cybersecurity Specialization) position starting in Fall 2027. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching and service, and to contribute to the growth of the UNT-Dallas Information Technology program. Individuals with specific interests and experience in cybersecurity are strongly encouraged to apply.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for teaching four (4) courses per semester. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in service activities such as program development, course development, program assessment, and committee leadership. Additionally, the successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of undergraduate Cybersecurity and Information Technology courses, including but not limited to Foundations of Cybersecurity, Network Administration, Cloud Security, Computer Forensics, Computer Networks, and Programming. This position is scheduled to start Fall 2027 with the possibility of a Spring 2027 start.

Minimum Qualifications
  • An earned master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Computer Science.
  • Demonstrated effective writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using technology in teaching and experience teaching in multiple modalities (hybrid, online, and face-to-face).
  • Evidence of significant academic research and/or applied experience in Cybersecurity.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Demonstrated effective writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using technology in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A doctoral degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in developing both face-to-face and online courses.
  • Experience in curriculum development and program assessment.
  • Academic experience working on a campus with culturally diverse students, staff, and faculty.
