Department Summary

The School of Human Services at UNT Dallas offers two undergraduate degree programs. The Bachelor’s degree in Human Services Management, and Leadership (HSML) and a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies (CDFS) prepares students for work in the social service sector. We offer both professional and academic certificates.

Position Overview

UNT Dallas is bridging the gap between education and workforce readiness through our innovative Classroom to Career initiative. This initiative integrates experiential learning—such as internships, service learning, and project-based collaborations with industry partners—into every student’s academic journey. By emphasizing high-impact practices, we prepare students with both disciplinary expertise and the essential skills employers value most: communication, adaptability, teamwork, and leadership. Our graduates don’t just earn degrees; they launch purposeful, career-ready futures. Qualified individuals are being sought to establish a pool of readily available talented people from which these vacancies are filled as they occur. The adjunct instructor is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about teaching and student success.

UNT Dallas is hiring for the following positions to begin, Summer 2027 semester:

• Human Services Management and Leadership
• Gerontology
• Alternative Dispute Resolution
• Substance Abuse Treatment

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching area including Social Work, Human Services, Rehabilitation Counseling, Nonprofit Management, Mediation, Counseling Education, Public Administration, or related educational programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in online/hybrid instruction.
• Proven teaching excellence in undergraduate instruction.
• Knowledge of human services management principles, practices, and ethical standards.
• Understanding of leadership theories and their application in human services settings.
• Familiarity with all populations and responsive teaching methods.
• Knowledge of current trends and issues in the human services field.
• Understanding of CSHSE (Council on Standards for Human Services Education) standards.
• Strong instructional design and course development skills.
• Effective use of learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)
• Ability to facilitate engaging online, hybrid, and face-to-face instruction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor all student populations.
• Proficient use of educational technology and digital learning tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD. In Social Work, Human Services, Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, Nonprofit Management, or related educational program.
• Terminal degree in the specific discipline or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate courses.
• Significant pedagogical knowledge and understanding in course development desirable.Academic experience working on a campus with culturally all students, staff, and faculty.
• Knowledge of Counsel on Standards for Human Services Education (CSHSE).
• Bilingual skills a plus.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

State certification or licensing in the subject matter where required.
