• Well versed in best practices in assessing student learning.
• Instructor of record for college level classes in the related discipline.
• Record of scholarly activity, publications, or creative works.

Responsibilities

• Full-time instructional load teaching (15 contact hours per week) in areas of expertise within the academic discipline.
• Regular course meetings and instruction
• Ability to maintain internally developed Physics and Astronomy lab materials and resources.
• Maintenance and weekly set up of equipment for either the Astronomy or Physics laboratories.
• Other teaching responsibilities
• Knowledge and ability to convey current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline.
• Faculty also contribute to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses.
• Faculty - Service to Institution: All faculty are expected to help the department in recruiting majors.
• Faculty members are expected to attend Department meetings and events.
• Faculty - Professional Development: Faculty are expected to stay current in their field.

The successful candidate may also be called upon to teach in the introductory astronomy courses. As the primary instructor for physics labs, the successful candidate will coordinate lab activities and continue edits of lab manuals.
