The Department of Curriculum and Teaching is seeking to hire a full-time Lecturer in the area of Early Childhood Education. This is a nine-month position (non-tenure track) with possibility for renewal and for summer teaching. We seek a colleague committed to critical perspectives in early childhood within curriculum, pedagogy, and teacher education. Responsibilities include teaching five graduate courses per academic year, supporting administrative tasks in several programs, advising students, and supervising preservice teachers in classroom settings.

The Department of Curriculum and Teaching is seeking to hire a full-time Lecturer in the area of Early Childhood Education. This is a nine-month position (non-tenure track) with possibility for renewal and for summer teaching. We seek a colleague committed to critical perspectives in early childhood within curriculum, pedagogy, and teacher education. Responsibilities include teaching five graduate courses per academic year, supporting administrative tasks in several programs, advising students, and supervising preservice teachers in classroom settings.

Dependent on the candidate’s specific qualifications, teaching duties will include courses on curriculum, literacy, child development, and student teaching seminars. While opportunities for elective courses and doctoral teaching are available, the successful candidate is expected to contribute mainly to the EC Masters program.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates should have a doctoral degree related to the field of early childhood, as well as experience teaching in Birth to 2nd grade settings. Evidence of strong commitment to teaching and learning in college, university, and teacher education contexts is expected. This includes attention to supporting the success of pre-service teachers from historically minoritized communities (students of Color, first generation students, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as a practitioner and a scholar of early childhood education is preferred. Expertise in one or more of the following is also preferred: disability in education; curriculum; bilingualism/biliteracy, critical theories of child development; preservice teacher education. Candidates should be committed to public education and the mission of the program (see https://www.tc.columbia.edu/curriculum-and-teaching/early-childhood-education/). Knowledge of New York City public schools and early childhood standards, frameworks, and approaches is preferred.

Salary Range:

$70,000 to $80,000
