A reasonable estimate for an initial appointment is $68,247. See Unit 18 Lecturer table for the salary range for this position. Salary is prorated in accordance with instructional workload calculation.

Position description

The Computer Science and Engineering department in the School of Engineering anticipates hiring full and/or part-time lecturer positions to teach the following courses for Summer 2025:


CSE 005: Intro Computer Applications

CSE 019: Introduction to Computing

CSE 022: Intro to Programming

CSE 024: Advanced Programming

Other courses as needed

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus, holding weekly office hours (minimum 2 hours/week), and grading examinations and/or papers. The instructor may also be required to hold discussion sections or supervise a graduate student teaching assistant or reader.


This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Basic qualifications

Advanced degree in a relevant area or related field and experience teaching at the college or university level are required. Must be able to provide a record of excellence in teaching that demonstrates broad experience working with students of different abilities, ethnic backgrounds, and educational attainment.
