Position Summary

The School of Professional Studies invites part-time faculty candidates for Lecturer in Biology. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of part-time faculty members at the University include teaching and professional activities as assigned.

Essential Functions

Basic Instructional Duties:

• Prepare course outlines and teach based on approved departmental syllabi; prepare and deliver consistent, interactive lectures.
• Design and update course content as needed.
• Prepare and administer timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses.
• Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.
• Be available outside of class to help students learn and answer their questions (1 hour per 3-hour class, physically and/or virtually).
• Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook policies and procedures, including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.
• Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
• Maintain contact with the academic affairs team and participate in meetings upon request.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education

• Doctorate Degree/Terminal Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in relevant science discipline is required to teach graduate courses.
• Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in relevant science discipline is required to teach undergraduate courses.

Required Work Experience

• One (1) year of professional experience in a biology field.
• Experience teaching adult learners.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching at the collegiate level.
