Job summary

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs invites applications for Lecturers in Electrical and Computer Engineering to teach across the ECE curriculum, including courses such as Circuits Analysis, Computer Architecture, and Signals.

Appointments are temporary, non-tenure track, usually less than 50% time, and semester-by-semester. Teaching may be on-campus, online, or hybrid, with remote opportunities possible under certain conditions.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related area.
  • Terminal degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related area is preferred.
  • At least four months teaching experience is preferred.
  • Relevant industry experience that includes current engagement in professional activities is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to undergraduate/graduate students based on course modality including class and/or lab preparation, administering exams, grading, and maintaining office hours.
  • Maintain, develop and schedule student learning experiences to achieve desired learning outcomes.
  • Plan, develop, and implement evaluation tools to assess student progress towards course learning objectives.
  • Be familiar with learning management systems, such as Canvas.
  • Other duties as determined by the Department Chair.

Pay Range

Generally starting at $4,000 - $5,000 per3-credit hour course. Compensation will be commensurate uponexperience, qualifications, and teaching assignments. This positionis Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtimeprovisions.

Work Location

Determined by course modality: On-campus(typically), online, or hybrid. Remote teaching opportunities maybe available under certain conditions.

Summary

The College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University ofColorado Colorado Springs hires Lecturers in Electrical and Computer Engineering for temporary, non-tenure track positions to fill open sections of courses across the curriculum.Appointments are part-time (usually less than 50% time) and will bemade semester-by-semester.

This position will teach classes for the department of Electricaland Computer Engineering. Classes may be on-campus, online, or hybrid. Examples of courses/subject area include thefollowing:

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but arenot limited to:

  • Provide instruction to undergraduate/graduate students based oncourse modality including class and/or lab preparation,administering exams, grading, and maintaining office hours.

Tentative Search Timeline

This is an evergreen Lecturer Pool for the Department of Electricaland Computer Engineering at UCCS. Applications will be reviewedon a semester-by-semester basis as business needs arise.

  • Priority Application Dates : Applications submitted bythe following dates will receive priority consideration:
    • Fall Semester: May 1
    • Spring Semester: October 1
    • Summer Semester: March 1
  • Interview Dates : Candidates whose qualifications matchspecific course openings may be contacted for interviews at anytime as hiring needs arise.
  • Potential Start Dates : Employment start dates will varybased on course scheduling needs and will align with the start ofthe relevant academic semester.

Because this appointment is temporary in nature, you will not beeligible to receive all of the benefits normally provided tofaculty under the standard University of Coloradobenefits programs. You are not eligible to receive paidvacation leave, medical, or retirement benefits. However, you areeligible to accrue sick leave at 0.034 hours of sick leave per hourworked.
