Position Summary

Deliver lectures on BIOT 460: Scientific Communication in Biotechnology during Fall 2026. The lecturer will plan, prepare, construct, and evaluate communication situations, instructing students in producing and consuming relevant communications in biotechnological contexts.

Course Description

Study of communication principles and rhetorical strategies employed to effectively communicate with intended audiences in the context of the biotechnology industry. Students will apply this knowledge to plan, prepare, construct, and evaluate communication situations in which they participate as both producers and consumers of communication in careers related to biotechnology.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Biological Sciences or related fields.
  • Applicant must be working in the State of California, as employment outside California is prohibited by California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate or equivalent in Biological Sciences and related fields.
  • Experience teaching similar courses at four‑year universities.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence and commitment to serving the campus community in teaching and, as applicable, service roles.
Salary

Salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges (effective 7/1/24):

  • Lecturer A – AY: $5,507 – $6,677 per full‑time month.
  • Lecturer B – AY: $6,221 – $13,224 per full‑time month.

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
