LECTURER – BASIC NURSING ASSISTANT (BNA)
NURSING DEPARTMENT — MALCOLM X COLLEGE
Malcolm X College is currently seeking a part-time Lecturer for our Basic Nursing Assistant (BNA) Program. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving. A BNA Instructor is responsible for course planning and instruction, teaching students the patient care and basic nursing skills needed to provide physical care and emotional support to patients. A BNA Instructor prepares students for employment as nurse assistants and to take the state exam to receive certification.
The Basic Nursing Assistant Program prepares students for employment as a Certified Nurse Assistant in hospitals, home health, long-term care and other healthcare facilities. The program is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Satisfactory completion of the program leads to eligibility to take the state’s Nurse Aide Competency Exam for certification. Certification is required for employment as a Certified Nurse Assistant.
