Teaching staff members will instruct children in their charge in accordance with the curriculum and program of study adopted by the Board of Education. It is the teacher's role to ensure student learning by engaging students with authentic challenges that allow for assessment that measures growth and informs future instruction. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills and competence in one or more fields of science, including general science, earth science, biology, physiology, chemistry, and physics; develops students skills and abilities in scientific methods and problem-solving, as well as an understanding of the application of science in the solution of practical problems.
The General Education Teacher has the duties and responsibilities commonly associated with this position, including (but not limited to) the following, which are performed directly or through the proper delegation of authority, within the framework of the general laws of New Jersey, the regulations of the NJ State Department of Education, the policies and rules of the Nutley School District, and the terms of the contract with the Nutley Education Association, with all of which he/she is expected to be familiar. As well, the position is responsible for duties commonly associated with communication positions, which are performed directly or through the proper delegation of authority.
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the New Jersey Administrative Code and Board of Education Policy.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal or superintendent may assign or delegate.
Performance in this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on supervision and evaluation.
Proficient in computer applications pertinent to support the position.

Rates: $130 Days, 1-5; $160 days 6-20 and $337 days 21+
