Job description

Responsibilities:
  1. Teach a class of about 20 students in the context of an integrated curriculum, possibly with a teaching partner.
  2. Commit to the academic and social mission of the school, which encompasses differentiation to meet the needs of a diverse community.
  3. Collaborate in the design and implementation of an integrated curriculum.
  4. Keep careful anecdotal and assessment records and use them to write accurate, comprehensive student reports.
  5. Fulfill duties, responsibilities, and commitments as outlined in the Working at The School at Columbia University guidebook.
  6. Engage in ongoing communication with parents and caregivers.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  1. B.A./B.S. degree or an equivalent degree or educational qualification from an accredited college or university.
  2. At least two years of full-time teaching experience in K-8 public, parochial, or independent schools beyond student teaching.
  3. Strong skill sets in literacy, mathematics, social studies, and meeting the social and emotional needs of children.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Wide-ranging intellectual and educational interests.
  6. Commitment to equity and justice, including knowledge and skills related to cultural competencies.
  7. Familiarity with new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Advanced degree in a related field.
  2. Knowledge of Spanish.
