Schedule

Nights – 7 days on/7 days off, 6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.


Must be available for callouts as operational needs dictate.

Scope

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance preparation of wells, processing units, and related facilities. This position requires a strong focus on oil, gas, and water separation facility operations, along with major utilities and secondary expertise across all operations.


This is a large project that includes on-site facility startup and the use of operating tools, procedures, work-permitting processes, and training. Candidates with experience in new-facility startup and operations are highly desirable.


Main Functions

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance preparation of wells, processing units, and related facilities. This position requires a strong focus on oil, gas, and water separation facility operations, along with major utilities and secondary expertise across all operations.


This is a large project that includes on-site facility startup and the use of operating tools, procedures, work-permitting processes, and training. Candidates with experience in new-facility startup and operations are highly desirable.


Tasks and Responsibilities


  • Responsible for personal safety and the safety of coworkers. Follows and enforces all safety rules.

  • Serves as the primary operations contact for assigned facilities.

  • Understands process flow, basic chemistry associated with the unit, major lineups, and all unit safety equipment, including isolation points.

  • Reviews computer data and computer-generated schematics to ensure processes are optimized.

  • Physically inspects and monitors equipment and work areas using sight, hearing, smell, and touch to ensure proper operation.

  • Issues Safe Work Permits, requiring a high degree of proficiency regarding current operating conditions and the chemical, personnel, and process-safety risks associated with the operating unit.

  • Performs gas testing as necessary to confirm that operating areas are safe for specific maintenance activities.

  • Performs process-monitoring activities, including gauging tanks, reading meters, accurately recording data, collecting product samples, monitoring differential pressure and chemical-injection rates, and checking for leaks, freezing, overheating, and other abnormal conditions.

  • Performs visual maintenance by checking critical performance parameters such as temperature, pressure, level, flow rate, and vibration to ensure equipment remains within its defined operating envelope.

  • Adjusts local process parameters, including temperature and pressure, to maintain product specifications within the optimal operating window.

  • Maintains the company vehicle in good working condition.

  • Coordinates oil sales and saltwater hauling as necessary.

  • Maintains accurate electronic or paper gauge sheets and documents the reasons for production changes.

  • Checks control-valve positions to ensure valves are correctly positioned.

  • Performs basic equipment maintenance, including adding lubricant or water, tightening valve packing, changing filters and steam traps, and clearing equipment.

  • Communicates with the Production Foreman to remain informed of existing process conditions and report any changes made or required.

  • Performs winterization and summerization of equipment to maximize operating efficiency.

  • Monitors field equipment using electronic testing equipment, handheld monitors, and computerized monitoring systems.

  • Inspects safety valves, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, breathing apparatuses, and other safety equipment.

  • Participates in the continuous improvement of all assigned areas of the business.

  • Understands and performs work according to environmental policies and procedures.

  • Executes work in a manner that eliminates or minimizes environmental impacts, including flaring emissions and oil spills.

  • Assigns a high priority to resolving environmental issues.

  • Understands and follows all work rules while continuously improving job knowledge and skills.

  • Demonstrates reliable attendance.

  • Works independently when appropriate.

  • Supports the team in completing assigned tasks and meeting business objectives.


Skills and Qualifications


  • High school diploma required.

  • Previous experience in a closely related position required.

  • Must be able and willing to work a rotating shift.

  • Must be available for callouts as operational needs dictate.

  • Ability to maintain, operate, troubleshoot, and repair surface equipment associated with oil and gas production.

  • Ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.

  • Computer proficiency, including experience monitoring and analyzing operations through SCADA.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be physically capable of lifting more than 50 pounds and climbing ladders and stairways.

  • Must be able to use a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), safety detectors, and related equipment.

  • Must be capable of working independently during night operations.

  • This is a hands-on role focused on troubleshooting surface equipment.

  • Night-shift work involves less paperwork and more direct operational responsibility.

  • Must be able to diagnose and resolve equipment and process alarms.

  • Must be experienced with SCADA monitoring and data trending.

  • Must be comfortable working independently.
