The role involves diagnosing issues, maintaining fluids, and ensuring safety practices while delivering reliable service on the road and in the shop. Responsibilities include inspecting vehicles, performing required maintenance, updating work orders, and coordinating with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Grease, oil and lubricate components as part of preventive maintenance.
  • Perform adjustments to various systems during service and maintenance.
  • Complete required paperwork and document parts usage and times.
  • Drive truck in and out of repair area and adhere to safety policies.

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on all types of trucks and/or equipment to maximize safe and productive operations on site at customer’s locations. This position will have an impact in the following areas: customer relations, equipment diagnosis, failures of a motor vehicle and/or its related equipment and will involve professionalism, service/product training, and gathering new business relationships with prospective customers.REPRESENTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The actual duties required of this position will vary.Inspects trucks and/or equipment, for condition, operation, parts and fluid levels.Checks, fills and changes out appropriate fluids for all vehicle parts including engine, transmission, differentials, final drives, pump drives and hubs.Greases, oils, and lubricates components during preventive maintenance service.Performs adjustments to various systems during preventive maintenance service.Maintains and/or changes air, oil, coolant and fuel filters.Performs cooling systems maintenance.Identifies and designates problems.Completes necessary repair and preventive maintenance work.Checks safety equipment on truck and/or equipment.Drives truck in and out of repair area.Follows all safety policies and procedures.Completes required paperwork, documents parts and material usage and accounts for applied times (i.e. work order times versus time card times.)Represent the Company Core Values and adheres to the guidelines of the Employee handbook on a daily basis to all internal and external customers.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The following physical activities or abilities are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. The actual requirements of this position will vary.Lift, carry and push/pull at least 50 poundsClimb into and out of truck.Work in the outside environmentRequired:Valid driver licenseValid Class A CDL or the ability to obtain within 60 days of employmentPreferred:Equivalent of a high school diploma or G.E.D certificationPrior mechanic experience.Automotive certification.Service Excellence classification: medium/heavy truck.KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:The following key competencies represent qualities, traits and behaviors that a successful employee will exhibit. Actual machines, tools, equipment and/or software used will vary.Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, dust mask, ear plugs, gloves, hard hat, respirator, safety glasses, work boots and safety vest.Hand tools including, but not limited to, hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrenches, and tire pressure gauge.Machines including, but not limited to, floor jacks and presses.Computer diagnostic abilities and skills, VCADS, INSITE and other diagnostic programs. ADP, Mack & Volvo applications and software programs.ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC WORKING CONDITIONS:The following environmental/atmospheric conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position.
