Unity College in Maine seeks a Learning Technology Support Specialist to manage DE learning technologies, including the LMS, and prep courses for term runs. You will gather UX data and collaborate with Advisors, IT, and Academics to improve user experiences across the distance education program.

The role focuses on maintaining systems, fixing issues, and supporting ongoing standardization of courses, with opportunities to develop training materials and workshops for staff and faculty.

Responsibilities

Support the ID team in publication, standardization, and maintenance of courses.
Serve as Tier 1 support for learning technology issues including LMS issues
Maintain the LMS and related learning technologies
Respond to and fix user issues with course designs and integrations
Collaborate with Advising, IT, Academics to improve responses and learning processes
Develop methods to collect and analyze UX data from thousands of users
Generate reports and inform iterative UX improvements
Act as expert resource for Canvas LMS and related tools
Support integration of educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning
Create tutorials, orientations, sessions, and workshops as needed
Share knowledge of academic technologies with teams
Stay current with latest online education technologies

Position Overview:

The Learning Technology Support Specialist (LTSS) will support DE’ssuite of learning technologies and processes as they areexperienced by our users (students, faculty, and staff). Thissupport will have a primary and a secondary focus: Primarily, theLTSS will maintain DE learning technologies (including the LMS),prepare courses to run between terms, repair courses as they run,and bug fix. Secondarily, the LTSS will gather quantitative andqualitative data on user experiences. They will work with inputfrom various DE units, including Advisors, IT, Academics,instructors, and the students themselves, to develop a holisticpicture of where and how our users run into issues so that theInstructional Designers (IDs) can design long-term solutions. TheLTSS will also support IDs in the ongoing standardization,maintenance, and operation of courses term by term.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the ID team in the publication, standardization, andmaintenance of existing courses.
Function as Tier 1 support for DE learning technology issues,including LMS issues
Maintain the LMS and adjacent learning technologies
Respond to and fix user issues with designed aspects of coursesand third-party integrations, as they arise.
Interface with Advising, Concierge, Academics, IT and other DEunits to improve response to, and learning processes collecting,user issues.
Develop methodologies for collecting and analyzing UX datagenerated by thousands of users.
Apply user data to generate reports and inform iterativeimprovements to the User Experience.
Act as an expert resource for our Canvas learning managementsystem and related tools.
Support and refine integrations of current educationaltechnologies to promote effective teaching strategies and toimprove student-learning experiences.
Develop support materials, including tutorials, orientations,help sessions, and workshops, as needed.
Communicate knowledge and application of academictechnologies.
Remain current and maintain a thorough understanding of thelatest industry technology tools and trends in onlineeducation.
Work with Information Technology and Instructional Technologystaff to develop new services and test new academic and learningtechnologies.

Qualifications

Required:

Associate’s Degree.
Strong skills for empathizing with and analyzing userexperiences.
Strong qualitative and quantitative data collection andanalysis skills.
Experience in managing multiple projects, and the ability toschedule, prioritize and meet varied deadlines across theseprojects.
Ability to work both independently and within a team.
Strong oral and written communication skills with stronginterpersonal and presentation skills
Proven ability to stay current with rapidly changingtechnologies.
Ability and willingness to work with students from diversepolitical/socioeconomic backgrounds and a wide range of physicaland academic abilities.
Demonstrated competence working with Content Management Systemsand various media technologies
Personal commitment to the environmental focus and mission ofthe college.

Preferred:

Degrees and/or certifications in Data Analysis, UX Design, IT,or other related fields
Experience fixing user experience issues (bug fixing)
Experience with graphic design and AV elements such as theAdobe Creative Cloud suite.
Experience in online classroom teaching or workshopfacilitation.
Familiarity with Universal Design and other accessibilityprinciples to ensure course content is accessible to alllearners.
Proven ability to work effectively and communicate with subjectmatter experts, peers, users and media developers incross-functional teams.
Demonstrated competence in working with learning managementsystems, such as Canvas.

Familiarity with HTML and CSS.
