Job description

International School of Brooklyn seeks a dynamic, hardworking, full-time Learning Support Teacher (Kindergarten-Early Elementary) for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond.

Job Description

The Learning Support Teacher:

  1. works closely with the Student Support Coordinator, faculty and the administrative team.
  2. observes and assesses Kindergarten and Early Elementary students to support with learning strategies, organization, and study skills.
  3. provides direct student support through small group and one-on-one instruction within the general education classroom and/or learning support areas (push-in and pull-out models as appropriate).
  4. collaborates with teachers to develop effective whole group practices, small group interventions, and individualized learning activities.
  5. serves as a resource for faculty, supporting teachers in differentiating plans for students based on their unique learning profiles so that all students are engaged and challenged, ensuring each student makes progress.
  6. assists teachers with tracking data to determine the effectiveness of interventions.
  7. works with the Student Support Coordinator to manage and implement plans and recommendations related to student’s IEP/504s, liaise with external service providers, and attend CSE meetings.

Qualifications

Candidates should enjoy creating learning experiences designed to nurture the development of the whole child, enjoy a strong collaborative work environment, enjoy using a wide array of resources to build rich inquiry and learning experiences, and have experience integrating multiple approaches to ensure various learning styles are well supported.

Educational Background & Skills

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  2. At least two years of experience as a learning support teacher/specialist or in a related role.
  3. Familiarity with legal responsibilities of independent schools related to IEP and 504 plans.
  4. Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, admin, and parents.
  5. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  6. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.

Compensation & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $63,178 to $82,644 (based on experience).
