Pennridge School District is seeking a Learning Support Teacher – Elementary in Perkasie, PA. The role involves direct instruction aligned to IEPs and behavior goals for students with learning and emotional disabilities.

The position requires collaboration with the Supervisor of Special Education and Building Principal, with expectations to develop and monitor progress, maintain records, and implement district plans and safety protocols.

Job Description

TITLE: LearningSupport Teacher – Elementary

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Special Education and Building Principal

AVAILABLE: January 4, 2026

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10-month full-time, salary in accordance with PEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

DESCRIPTION: Provide direct instruction to students as described in IEP's. Write, implement and monitor progress of IEP’s, including behavior goals, for elementary students with learning and/or emotional disabilities.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: The teacher is the member of the school system with the greatest interaction with children. It is the teacher who bears the primary responsibility for carrying out the aims and objectives of the educational program. The attitudes, skills and abilities of the teaching staff to a great measure determine the probable success of the school program. To insure the maximum teacher contribution, teachers must accept responsibility for planning as well as implementing the education programs of the school. The teacher is responsible to the principal of the building to which assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with the principal, subject supervisors and other staff members to develop an integratededucational program for children.
• Assess the attitudes, skills and abilities of children for effective teaching and learning each marking period as well as on an annual basis.
• Provide meaningful, appropriate learning experiences for assignedgroups of children including differentiated instruction to meet individual needs of children.
• Properly refer to the IST process those children experiencing unusualdifficulties.
• Effectively implement IEP's and the 504 plan of identified children using the resources that are provided
• Maintain a plan book as directed by the principal and submitplan book for review upon request. Have daily plans readily available for the use of a substitute in the event of absence.
• Appropriately integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
• Evaluate Children's progress as a basis for planning and reporting to parents.
• Complete and record students' progress on appropriate records or documents.
• Maintain an accurate record of attendance ofassigned children. Report and record absences as directed.
• Maintain acceptable standards of discipline in the classroom which promotes learning and supports the school-wide discipline plans.
• Provide immediate care and protect injured students until the services of nurse or other medical personnel are available. Follow building's safety-emergency management plan.
• Provide a stimulating learning environment.
• Supervise the use of and account for school materials, supplies and equipment.
• Perform additional duties such as lunchroom, bus, or recess as required.
• Maintain and extend professional knowledge and skills through activities such as graduate study, participation in staff development, professional reading and other appropriate activities as defined in the District's Act 48 Plan.
• Support school programs and maintain ahigh standard of ethical professionalconduct when dealing with associates, parents and other members of the community.
• Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
• Elementary Education/Content Area Certification is preferred.
• Valid Pennsylvania Special Education Certification

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Clearances must be within 12 months and the TB must be within 90 days of hire.

Physical Requirements

SEDENTARY: involves sitting most of the time. The incumbent should be able to exert up to 10 lbs.of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.

LIGHT WORK: If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the individual sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. The incumbent should be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

MEDIUM WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

HEAVY WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 75 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.

VERY HEAVY WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
