Job summary

SUMMARY

Provides students with intervention opportunities in reading, math, and writing; works with students to provide assistance and support; monitors student progress.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.

  • Works with students individually or in small groups in and out of regular classrooms under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
  • Reinforces the instructional plan laid out by the classroom teacher.
  • Provides instructional assistance and motivate students in the areas of math, reading, and language.
  • Plans and prepares study aids such as flash cards and worksheets.
  • Assists teacher with classroom activities; leads breakout sessions.
  • Manages student behavior in small groups in order to create a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Monitors and reports progress of individual students to teachers.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
  • Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience
  • Two (2) years post-secondary education OR a passing ParaPro Score.
  • One (1) year of curriculum support experience.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
