Job description

Thornton Tomasetti applies engineering and scientific principles to solve the world’s challenges. An independent organization of creative thinkers and innovative doers collaborating from offices worldwide, our mission is to bring our clients' ideas to life and, in the process, lay the groundwork for a better, more resilient future. We provide support and opportunities to our employees to achieve their full potential and cultivate a rewarding career.

Your Role

Recognizing that most learning comes through active engagement in on-the-job experiences, proactive independent learning, and relationships, Thornton Tomasetti’s Learning and Organizational Development (L+OD) group focuses on shortening learning curves and helping to create common frameworks across the organization related to four major skillsets: Technical, Management, Winning Work, and Leadership. We often provide resources, structure, additional scaffolding, logistical coordination, and other support to empower TT staff to teach/coach/mentor and learn-from one another. In our work, we emphasize curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement in the efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability of our programs through innovation.

What You'll Do

Oversee and moderate the bi-weekly Thornton Tomasetti University/Essentials webinar program, including organizing Learning Coordinators across offices.

  • Administer the twice-yearly Mentor Matching program and ongoing American Institute of Architects (AIA) continuing education accreditation process.
  • Provide support for L+OD programs, such as Project Management Training and onboarding. This includes providing logistical support, data management/analysis, program communications, and coordinating meetings/events.
  • Manage content in the firm-wide Workday learning management system, including: troubleshoot employee inquiries regarding system functionality, usage, and application; upload and remove courses; vendor management; track employee training completion data; track instructor-led training, and manage campaigns.
  • Support participant groups within career-development coaching programs.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.
What You'll Bring

Degree (master’s preferred) in education or a related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in learning and development or a related field.
  • Effective communication (written and verbal), collaboration, cultural awareness, emotional intelligence (self-management, relationship management, empathy, influence), adaptability, development of trusting relationships, and professional presence.
  • Strong organization and time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to make decisions independently.
  • Proficient in data management/analysis and with Microsoft productivity applications.
  • Experience in a professional services firm and/or administering learning management systems preferred.
