Georgia-Pacific Monticello is seeking a Learning and Development Area Lead to design, develop, deliver, and evaluate training that improves knowledge transfer and job performance.

You will lead needs analyses, create qualification materials, and manage training records across the mill, partnering with operations, trainers, and vendors to ensure programs meet business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve a task-based training process for the assigned area, aligned with mill priorities, qualification requirements, PBM principles, and the mill vision.
  • Partner with operations leaders, subject matter experts, trainers, employees, vendors, and contractors to make informed training decisions and, when needed, lead cross-functional work.
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain training materials, qualification guides, reference materials, assessments, and training documentation used in mill programs.
  • Deliver and coordinate training in classroom, field, and on-the-job environments to help ensure employees are trained and qualified as required.
  • Maintain accurate training records and controlled documentation for employees and departments, supporting consistency, traceability, and program review.
  • Conduct training needs analyses, job analyses, task analyses, and performance analyses to distinguish training needs from non-training performance barriers.
  • Review training programs, research practices, assess results, and recommend improvements as requested by supervision or identified through evaluation data.
  • Prioritize work, support others, and manage commitments so deadlines and predetermined schedules are met.
  • Become a certified mobile equipment trainer and support equipment training requirements as assigned.

Job description

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Learning and Development Area Lead to support the Monticello Mill. This role partners closely with the paper machine department to design, develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain training that improves knowledge transfer and job performance. The Area Lead conducts training needs, job, task, and performance analyses; maintains task lists and qualification requirements; and uses data and stakeholder feedback to ensure training addresses verified business and performance needs.

The position uses ADDIE as the organizing framework for the mill’s Systematic Approach to Training (SAT). Training work is expected to be traceable from an identified need through solution design, development, delivery, qualification, evaluation, and revision. Our Team

Georgia-Pacific Monticello is a fully integrated containerboard mill with approximately 500 employees and continues to benefit from extensive capital investment. This role offers the opportunity to contribute within a growing organization while strengthening workforce capability across the mill. Monticello is located approximately one hour south of Jackson and one hour northwest of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

What You Will Do

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience building learning materials that support knowledge transfer and/or performance.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience facilitating classroom training.
  • Trainer and/or supervisor experience.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience implementing a task-based training program.
  • Experience applying ADDIE within a Systematic Approach to Training (SAT), including analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Experience writing, maintaining, and executing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience reading technical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with training program documentation and records management.
  • Experience with leadership development training.
  • Operations or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
