Job summary

Valencia College is hiring two Learning Assistant II (Tutors) to join the Learning Support Center tutoring team at the Downtown Campus in Orlando, FL. The role focuses on tutoring students in Math and/or Science to support their coursework.

The ideal candidate has prior tutoring experience and has completed college-level coursework in Biology, Chemistry, Math, or related subjects. This on-site position may include occasional virtual meetings and training, with benefits like retirement options

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Must have evidence of successful completion of college level academic work.
• Previous tutoring experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to currently enrolled students in a discipline.
• Assess students' academic ability using provided tools.
• Meet with supervisory staff regularly to discuss progress.
• Assist supervisor with academic needs assessment.
• Document student progress for each session using provided instruments.
• Implement an academic action plan for each session.
• Participate in staff development training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
