Job summary

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking Learning Assistants for Supplemental Instruction. LAs work up to 11 hours per week in a collaborative learning setting, with times coordinated with the professor and Tutorial Director & Coordinator.

The role requires being a sophomore, maintaining a 3.0 GPA, and completing an interview. Pay is $13.00 per hour with eligibility to support courses and sessions throughout the semester.

Qualifications

• Submit a recommendation from the course instructor.
• Complete an interview with the Tutorial Coordinator.
• Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
• Be a second-year undergraduate student at ESU.
• Achieve final course grades of A, A-, B+, or B.

Responsibilities

• Hold weekly review and discussion sessions.
• Understand syllabi, assignments, and course requirements.
• Attend the course with the students.
• Assist the professor with course duties in and out of class (up to 3 hours outside of class per week).
• Prepare and submit weekly session plans.
• Enforce university policies.
• Attend LA team meetings throughout the semester.
• Tutor up to two hours during WTC hours.
• Meet with the professor as needed.
• Attend mandatory LA training workshops.
• Commit to a semester-long work experience.

Job Summary

LAs help students who have variouslevels of knowledge gain a clearer and a deeper understanding of a particularsubject in a collaborative and active learning environment. LAs workup to 11 hours per week. Specific times and day are determined in coordination with theprofessor for the course and the Tutorial Director & Coordinator.

Pay rate

$13.00 per hour.

LA responsibilities include

• Hold weekly review and discussion sessions


• Have a thorough understanding of the syllabi, assignments and requirements for the courses.


• Attend the course with the students.


• Assist the professor with course related duties in and out of class (up to three hoursoutside of class each week).


• Prepare and submitweekly session plans.


• Enforce UWTP policies.


• Attend and contribute to LA team meetings throughout the semester.


• Be availableto tutor up to two hours duringWTC hours.


• Meet with professor as needed.


• Attend mandatory LA training workshops.


• Commit to a semester long work experience.

Required Qualifications
