Job summary

Trident Systems Inc. in Fairfax, VA seeks an Operational Excellence Engineer to drive continuous improvement across the organization. You will coach teams, map processes, and lead Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost while delivering measurable business outcomes.

You will partner with cross-functional leaders, define project scope and timelines, and ensure sustainable implementation with documentation and training. This is an individual-contributor role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business or related field.
• At least 2 years leading or facilitating process improvement projects.
• Strong facilitation, communication, and cross-functional influence without direct authority.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) and Visio or process-mapping tools.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to execute tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other methodologies.
• Partner with departmental leaders to identify process improvement opportunities affecting safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction.
• Facilitate cross-functional meetings, workshops, and project teams to drive momentum.
• Define project scope, objectives, timelines, milestones, risks, and outcomes.
• Document current-state and future-state processes using maps and standard work.
• Track project progress, maintain documentation, and communicate status to stakeholders.
• Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends and validate results.
• Support change management activities, including stakeholder engagement and training.
• Ensure successful transition of completed improvement projects to departmental owners with sustainability plans.
• Coach employees and project teams on continuous improvement principles.
• Develop and maintain operational excellence standards, tools, and best practices.
• Identify opportunities to standardize processes across departments.
