Johnson Controls is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive lean production improvements and CI initiatives on the shop floor in San Antonio, TX.

The role focuses on applying Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methods while developing and optimizing equipment and processes, mentoring staff, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on process improvement.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of stable production flows using Lean principles and CI tools.
• Analyze current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for waste reduction, efficiency improvements, and cost savings.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), root cause analysis, and standard work.
• Develop, design, and improve manufacturing equipment, tooling, and processes to support production requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, quality, maintenance, and engineering) to enhance operational performance.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) and ensure production readiness.
• Establish and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor production performance metrics (OEE, yield, downtime) and implement corrective actions.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts and implement long-term corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Train and mentor production staff on Lean tools and improved manufacturing practices.
