Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated is seeking a Lean Manager to lead continuous improvement and the Hubbell Manufacturing System at our site. You will guide Kaizen events, optimize material flow, labor structure, and facility layout to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

You will develop Lean training, track Kaizen metrics, and coach earning teams across salaried and hourly staff. This role requires leadership, Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred, and a strong passion for CI.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing shop floor and Continuous Improvement experience.
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.
  • Experience leading Kaizen/CI events across manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and sustainment of the Hubbell Manufacturing System for the site.
  • Facilitate and oversee planning, development, and implementation of Lean initiatives through Kaizen events.
  • Drive a Lean culture and act as a change agent across the facility.
  • Employ Lean tools and methodologies to drive improvement initiatives.
  • Develop training materials for continuous improvement, tailored for the site.
  • Create and implement LEAN training for salaried and hourly associates.
  • Develop, track, and report on metrics from Kaizen events.
  • Design and optimize manufacturing processes for existing and new products.
  • Assist site Process and Manufacturing Engineers in analysis to increase productivity and quality.
  • Attend industry and corporate CI training and seminars.

Job Overview

The Lean Manager will focus on continuous improvement efforts for the site, including being responsible for the ongoing development and improvement of the Hubbell Manufacturing System. This includes leading Kaizen and other Lean events as business needs shows which invovle improvement in material flow, labor structure, facility layout, maintenance, and expenses to grow profitability by improving operations overall. This position is accountable for improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and people. The Lean Specialist is responsible for manufacturing process improvements, identifies opportunities for cost reduction, lead-time reduction, inventory reduction, and quality improvement.

  • Leader in the development and sustainment of the Hubbell Manufacturing System for the site.
  • Facilitating and overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of waste reduction (i.e., LEAN) initiatives through formal Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) Events.
  • Driving a LEAN culture and be a change agent throughout the facility – promoting, encouraging, and coaching.
  • Employing the use of LEAN tools and methodologies to drive improvement initiatives.
  • Developing training materials pertaining to continuous improvement methodologies, customized where applicable for the site.
  • Creating and implementing a LEAN training regimen for both salaried and hourly associates.
  • Developing, tracking, and reporting on metrics measuring the success derived from Kaizen events.
  • Designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for the improvement of existing products and the introduction of new ones.
  • Assisting site Process and Manufacturing Engineers in the inspection and analysis of equipment, processes, and operational procedures to determine opportunities to increase productivity, minimize cost, and/or to enhance product quality.
  • Attending pertinent industry and/or corporate sponsored continuous improvement training and seminars.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations, or other related fields
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing shop floor and Continuous Improvement experience (required)
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience (required)
  • True passion and drive for continuous improvement gained via LEAN principles
  • Excellent knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
  • Demonstrate success in leading and executing Kaizen/Continuous Improvement events across various areas of manufacturing
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred
  • Manufacturing/Process/Project Engineer experience prior to Continuous Improvement experience preferred
