Job summary

Corning Incorporated in Concord, NC seeks a Lean Engineer to drive foundational and transformational Lean initiatives. This role partners with Operations, Engineering and Finance to improve Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery through hands-on facilitation and structured problem solving.

You will plan and lead Kaizen events, map current and future state value streams, and apply DMAIC/PDCA methods with a focus on sustainable improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; Industrial Engineering preferred.
• 2+ years in Lean Engineering, manufacturing, or related technical environment.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods, processes, plant operations, and 24/7 operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office with data analysis and visualization.
• Experience with SQL, Python, Power BI, SAP, CAD, or simulation tools.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead 3-4 Kaizen events per year with Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, SMED, and 6S.
• Track and quantify cost savings, capacity improvements, and cycle-time reductions.
• Own current-state and future-state Value Stream Maps; coordinate reviews with plant leadership.
• Plan and implement workplace flow and layout improvements in line with Lean principles.
• Partner with plant engineering to apply DMAIC and PDCA to drive root-cause and sustainable actions.
