Job summary

TCLAD is seeking a Lean Engineer to lead Lean Enterprise at the site level, driving improvements in operations, KPI metrics, and culture. You will quantify opportunities and champion initiatives to completion, in full compliance with SOPs.

You will guide cross‑functional teams, conduct continuous improvement workshops, train staff in Lean tools, and support deployment of Lean practices across manufacturing and supply chain processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree and 5 years lean manufacturing experience.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Experience with Lean tools and continuous improvement workshops.
• Knowledge of 6S, VSM, A3, and TPS concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead Lean Enterprise initiatives at site level to improve operations.

Lean Engineer

Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading Lean Enterprise at the site level to improve site operations, KPI metrics, and culture. The individual supports the improvement of the business and continuous improvement culture within the site by identifying and quantifying operational improvements, and then ensuring relevant initiatives are completed. This position is expected to perform the required duties of this position in full compliance with departmental standard operating procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position serves the role of leading the site’s Lean Enterprise initiatives in the safest, most efficient manner possible that meets or exceeds our roadmap for improvement. In doing so, the LE Site Leader bears responsibility in the following areas:

• Compliance with TCLAD’s Vision and Values, and execution of duties in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures including accurate and timely completion of required paperwork.
• Immediate correction of safety hazards, Execution of duties in accordance with TCLAD’s SHE standards and practices including the use of personal protective equipment.
• Activities of this position have the potential to have significant environmental impact. Conformance with all environmental management systems policies and procedures is mandatory.
• Key Performance Indicators – understanding of the following
• Cost Reduction Actual versus plan
• Yield Improvement
• Operational Efficiency Improvement
• Lead initiatives in the following areas:
• Standardization of Processes
• Operational and Supply Chain Systems and helping the team enable processes to audit and sustain compliance to these systems
• Lean Enterprise elements (Six Sigma, 5S, TPS, etc.)
• Evaluate, where necessary, key manufacturing processes (benchmarks/industry leaders/best practices) and develop plans to identify opportunities for improvement
• Be a key resource for Lean Enterprise tools and skills.
• Facilitate continuous improvement workshops/events targeting specific improvement opportunities.
• Lead and follow through with actions from cross functional projects tasked with improving manufacturing and supply chain processes.
• Lead cultural changes at the site and support continued deployment of Lean Enterprise within TCLAD.
• Work with site leadership to identify and validate savings opportunities.
• Train site employees using lean tools and methodology.
• Must be a highly motivated individual who is able to manage and lead multiple projects at one time.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of Plant Operations.
• Self-identification of training and development needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Six Sigma green belt preferred
• Excellent leadership and team building skills
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
• Lean Manufacturing, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, A3 experience
• Competent in project management, possessing the ability to lead continuous improvement workshops/events

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and five years of experience in lean manufacturing environment.
