Tessera is seeking a Motivated and Hardworking Leadman Mechanic EVT (Training) with a Positive/Professional attitude.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Serves as the Lead Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) and technical subject matter expert for maintenance operations supporting Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles, structural fire apparatus, emergency response vehicles, military support equipment, and associated systems.
- Conducts and oversees annual and periodic load tests, aerial device inspections, pump performance tests, and operational readiness evaluations for ladder trucks, fire apparatus, ARFF vehicles, and other emergency response equipment to ensure compliance with NFPA standards, manufacturer requirements, and mission readiness objectives.
- Coordinates and assigns daily work activities for EVT technicians and mechanics to ensure preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and scheduled services are completed in accordance with contract requirements, manufacturer specifications, Air Force standards, and NFPA guidelines
- Provides technical leadership and hands‑on assistance in the diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, and testing of complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, fuel, braking, steering, suspension, drivetrain, and fire suppression systems.
- Performs and oversees preventive maintenance inspections, annual vehicle inspections, operational readiness inspections, and corrective maintenance actions to maximize fleet availability and mission readiness
- Reviews completed repairs and maintenance actions to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with applicable technical standards before equipment is released for service.
- Assists management in planning workloads, prioritizing maintenance requirements, scheduling repairs, and allocating personnel resources to meet operational requirements and customer expectations.
- Leads troubleshooting efforts on complex vehicle faults involving computer-controlled systems, multiplex wiring, diagnostic software, electronic controls, and integrated emergency vehicle components
- Ensures all work is performed in accordance with applicable technical manuals, maintenance standards, OEM specifications, Air Force instructions, safety regulations, environmental requirements, and NFPA standards.
- Provides mentoring, coaching, and on-the-job training to EVT Level I and EVT Level II technicians to improve technical proficiency, certification progression, productivity, and overall performance.
- Assists in the development and delivery of training programs related to vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, safety procedures, tool usage, inspection requirements, and maintenance best practices.
- Monitors employee performance, workmanship, attendance, and adherence to safety requirements and reports concerns or recommendations to management
- Maintains accurate maintenance records, inspection documentation, training records, timekeeping information, work orders, parts usage reports, and other required reports utilizing government and company maintenance management systems.
- Coordinates with supervisors, customers, government representatives, vendors, and parts suppliers to resolve maintenance issues, obtain technical information, and expedite repairs
- Ensures accountability and proper use of tools, diagnostic equipment, government-furnished property, shop equipment, and maintenance supplies
- Prepares vehicles, maintenance records, and supporting documentation for customer inspections, compliance reviews, audits, and operational readiness assessments
