Job summary

Oldcastle Infrastructure in Elgin, IL is seeking a Production Lead to guide a manufacturing team to operate safely and efficiently in a union environment. You will be responsible for safety, quality and production results in a defined area.

You will supervise full-time and temporary staff, coach team members, maintain process documentation, partner with Quality Control, Engineering and Maintenance, and drive lean improvements to reduce costs and waste.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of Lead/Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Able to operate under pressure, meet strict deadlines, prioritize workload and multi-task.
• Ability to lead by example and build effective teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a factory environment and perform manual labor.
• Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Follows, and ensures others follow, all policies, standards, and safety requirements defined by the company
• Drives safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively eliminate hazards
• Participates in hiring, schedules, and supervises full time staff and additional temporary staff
• Provides coaching and corrective feedback timely as well as initiating disciplinary processes up to and including termination
• Participates in timely quarterly and annual reviews for all team members
• Facilitate team development and growth, employee skill development, problem-solving and resolution
• Oversees all process documentation and training program procedures for consistency of operational tasks, and the safety and cleanliness of the workplace
• Works directly with Quality Control, Engineering, and Maintenance, to improve quality, streamline efficiencies and reduce operating expenses
• Tracks productivity for measured efficiency and improvement and operates at or below the budgeted cost for production utilizing lean manufacturing procedures and cross training
• Oversees adherence to inventory control procedures to ensure inventory accuracy goals are constantly achieved
• Assist with troubleshooting and solving production issues
• Performs other duties as requested by management

Job Summary
