Job description

A leading academic medical center in Kentucky is expanding its neurology faculty and welcomes applicants across all subspecialties. Neurologists specializing in stroke, movement disorders, memory disorders, headache, and neuro-ophthalmology will have the opportunity to build a predominantly, if not fully, subspecialized practice.


Additionally, they are actively seeking a Director for their Headache Department, as well as a general neurologist to join their team. They are also seeking fully remote candidates for their tele-neurology position and are offering a hybrid schedule for tele-stroke physicians interested in their program.


The dynamic Chair of the Department of Neurology is excited to continue faculty expansion efforts, with extensive support and backing from administration. Additionally, they’re excited to welcome faculty members who want to bring the latest in diagnostics and therapeutics to their program.


Program Highlights:
  1. Join faculty of 38 neurologists
  2. Teach neurology residents (7 residents a year)
  3. Fellowships in Clinical Neurophysiology; Epilepsy; Geriatric Neurology; Headache Medicine; Movement Disorders; and Vascular Neurology
  4. Support available from residents and interns, APPs and nurses in both hospital and clinic, and dedicated discharge team
  5. 569 beds
  6. 20-bed Neuro ICU
  7. Comprehensive Stroke Center
  8. Level 1 Trauma Center
  9. Level 4 Epilepsy Center, with 12-bed EMU
  10. Outpatient Infusion Center on campus

Stroke details:
  1. Vascular neurologists encouraged to participate in the telestroke program
  2. Comprehensive Stroke Center
  3. Teaching and research opportunities
  4. Vascular Fellowship required
  5. Faculty appointment

Director of Headache & Headache Faculty details:
  1. Currently doing nerve blocks, trigger point injections, BOTOX
  2. CT and MRI imaging available
  3. Volume available for quickly building 100% subspecialized headache practice
  4. Directorship available for qualified candidates
  5. Protected time available for Director
  6. The Director would be expected to help build a comprehensive adult headache program
  7. Current team consists of one other headache neurologist and 5 headache trained APPs
  8. Faculty appointment

Movement Disorders details:
  1. Collaborative relationship for DBS with functional neurosurgeons
  2. Volume available for someone to become 100% subspecialized in movement disorders
  3. MRI and PET available
  4. Faculty appointment

Cognitive Neurology details:
  1. Support available from geriatric psychiatry, social workers, neuropsychology, and physical therapy and rehab
  2. Volume available to be 100% subspecialized
  3. Faculty appointment

Neuro-ophthalmology details:
  1. Join a team of two neuro-ophthalmologists
  2. Majority sub-specialty volume available

Tele-Stroke details:
  1. Hybrid position - Majority tele-stroke and inpatient coverage
  2. Preference is that this physician lives in Lexington or at the very least, the state of Kentucky
  3. Comprehensive Stroke Center

Tele-Neurology details:
  1. 100% remote tele-neurology position available
  2. Comprehensive neurology remote position
