Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a part-time Mentor for the ARches program. The Mentor will work with court-involved young adults aged 16-24, conducting weekly group sessions and individual meetings, providing guidance and support while aligning with program curricula.

The role requires evening and some Saturday availability, with on-call duties and coordination with the Program Coordinator. Location is 1709 St Mark's Ave, Brooklyn.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience and comfort working with court-involved young adults.
• Prior justice involvement or knowledge of preferred.
• Familiarity with Brownsville community and challenges faced by young adults living there.
• Solid group work skills.
• Experience with cognitive-behavior therapy and/or evidence base practices preferred.
• Knowledge of Word, Zoom, & email usage.
• Familiarity with strength-based/youth development principles.
• Ability to work evenings and some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Serve as mentor for court-involved young adults aged 16-24, who are on probation.
• Lead weekly mentoring group utilizing Arches curriculum-based Interactive Journaling model.
• Participate in all DOP training and technical assistance sessions.
• Meet with mentees for one-on-one meetings on a weekly basis.
• Provide mentees with support, guidance, and advice throughout the week.
• Plan and participate in monthly recreational/educational outings with mentees.
• On-call 7/24.
• Create opportunities for participants to maximize their potential through engagement and high expectations.
