Job summary

The State of Utah, Department of Health and Human Services, Juvenile Justice and Youth Services seeks a full-time on-site position in Salt Lake City to work with high-risk youth. You will assess needs, develop individualized plans, apply intervention techniques, and collaborate on court reports with the treatment team.

Qualified applicants have a high school diploma or GED, six years of related experience, and a Utah driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six years of paid work with troubled or at-risk youth, people with disabilities, or individuals with mental illness.
• A valid Utah Driver's License.
• Qualifying work experience includes JJYS facilities, Utah State Hospital, or similar programs.
• Non-qualifying experience is volunteer work.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and work with high risk/volatile youth with complex behavioral problems.
• Assist treatment team in assessing client needs (physical, mental, social, behavioral).
• Help develop and implement individualized treatment or Specialized Intervention Plans.
• Identify and apply security, safety, and control intervention techniques.
• Supervise youth one-on-one to develop skills aligned with evidence-based programs.
• Collaborate on writing court reports, parole summaries, and treatment plans.
• Lead or coach staff in implementing Specialized Intervention Plans and provide training.
• Make decisions consistent with Applied Behavior Analysis principles with QMHP collaboration.
• Communicate clearly and listen effectively; read and understand written information.
• Complete Integrated Crisis Response (ICR) within 90 days of employment.
• Travel to other secure facilities as required.
